Rehoboth

The summer she turned nine her family took a trip to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Her great-grandmother owned a home on the beach, where her mother and her sisters spent summers as children. They were there over her birthday, and one of her gifts was a teal 110mm film camera. In late 2006 while searching through boxes, she found some pictures she had taken from that summer holiday.

She can't even remember how long they were there, probably a week or two, but in her mind they stayed the entire summer. They got up early in the mornings to collect the prettiest seashells after the tide went out. At night they went to the boardwalk where they had the best claw machines--they gave prizes almost every time! The time in between was spent on the beach, building castles, digging holes and floating around in inner tubes.

It was the best summer.
